The IONIQ Electric doesn't rely on a conventional gearbox. Instead, its efficient powertrain joins forces with a single-speed reduction gear, to provide instant acceleration and performance at all speeds. This level of responsiveness optimises energy efficiency and reduces noise, all with zero emissions.
With a 100kW electric motor connected to a fully-charged 38.3kWh lithium-ion polymer battery, the IONIQ Electric gives you a range of up to 311km[R1] (WLTP) on a single charge, with zero emissions.

With Apple CarPlay™ and Android™ Auto compatibility, your IONIQ takes the things you like doing with your smartphone while driving and puts them safely on your extra-large built-in display. Make calls, send and receive messages, listen to music and more, all in a way that allows you to stay focused on the road.
The selection of Drive/Reverse/Park/Neutral modes is now instantaneous via the Shift-By-Wire system, located conveniently on the centre console (which is unique in itself for maximising storage space due to the absence of a transmission tunnel beneath it).
By plugging into a 100kW charger at a DC fast-charging station, an 80% recharge will take 54 minutes (or 57 minutes with the 50kW charger). An AC charger at home or at the shops will take approximately 6 hrs and 5 minutes. The emergency charging cable located in the boot uses a standard 240V power outlet which takes longer to charge, so best to save this option for back-up situations.
Charging times may increase if peak charging rates are not achieved.
The IONIQ Electric utilises regenerative braking, which charges your battery each time you brake while driving, which maximises efficiency and prolongs your charge level. Steering wheel-mounted paddles allow you to increase or decrease the amount of regenerative braking you can potentially harvest.
